Cornucopia Classic Schedule

November 13, 2008

Optional Team Parents:

Because our home meet is the weekend following the long Thanksgiving break, we will have a practice on Sunday, November 30th at their regular time (1:00 to 5:00).

Please let me know right away whether or not your gymnast will be at practice. We know that some people travel, and we do not want to over staff, if many gymnasts will not be there.

Also, just to make sure that there is no confusion, there will be no change to our normal practice policy the weekend of the Mistletoe meet. The optional team will have practice on Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 (we always end practice an hour early the day before a meet).

We know that many of you will be helping at the meet, and would like to suggest that arrangements be made to carpool if possible.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks.
Lefty

One Last Update – Thursday, November 13, 2008

Kelly Durf was able to get us a VIP spot!

So…any family that was not planning on going to school, and can go earlier, meet at the gym between 8:15 8:30 to ride together. A few people will be able to leave their cars at the volunteer lot.

Everyone else, who will be riding the bus, should get there as early as possible and let them know when they arrive at the site that they are with the Wilson Group. They should then be taken to our group, which as far as we know will be placed at the front right near the bus! It is our understanding that there will be a cap on the total number of people allowed to the site.

We thank Kelly for getting us this VIP spot and hope that all of the girls will have a great time!!

UPDATE:

Hello Panther and Renegade Families,
We want to update you with information pertaining to the taping of homecoming of the Drumm family for the Extreme Home Makeover show. I was in contact with the media representative today, and she said the that schedule is changing some from the information she originally gave us. We wanted to give you this update so you can make the best decision for your family as far as attending or not. The homecoming for the family is now scheduled for 1-3 PM instead of 2-3 PM as originally planned. Also, taping of the crowds for the homecoming scences for the television program will now start at 11 AM instead of 1 PM. Obviuosly, we have no control over the schedule change, but want to make everyone aware that there could be quite a bit of waiting between filming the crowds and the actual homecoming. If families are able to arrive earlier and want to be part of that taping, than they should do so. If they are not able to, and plan on arriving at 1PM, please understand the the crowd may be quite large at that point. There is no guarantee of our group getting picked for scenes from the homecoming, but this is a unique opportunity that may not present itself again. Thanks for your understanding, Coach Rachel

Hello Wilson Panther and Wilson Renegade Families,
We have been offered an very exciting opportunity to have our athletes and their families involved in the homecoming of a local family for ABC's Extreme Makeover home addition. The Drumm Family is from South Mountain, and they are having a new home built for them this week by Dan Ryan Builders. The homecoming is this Friday between 2-3 pm. We are planning on making posters to welcome the family home with during the last 20 minutes of each team's practice this Wednesday (gymnasts, mini, youth and silver) and Thursday (Senior). We will provide poster board, and markers, we ask that if you have additional markers that you bring them to use. We need to know by Wednesday at the latest whether your family will be participating. Please email Lefty at tumble@wsgd.net, or call the office at 264-1706 to let us know that you are able to participate. Families will need to meet me by 1:00 PM at the latest at the Carnival grounds of the Mont Alto Fire Department on Route 997. We will be bussed to the home site from there. We know that this would mean early dismissal from school for those that participate, and understand if your family is unable to do this. Please dress warmly, as it is expected to be very cold. We ask that you wear your Wilson Panthers/ Renegade warm-up jackets, or Wilson sweatshirts/ wind breakers. We will have a short cheer put together that can be done for the family upon their return. We are very excited to have this opportunity, and I spoke with the media coordinator from the show today, and she said they are also excited to have us join them. For more information about the family or the project, see Dan Ryan Builders website. If you have any questions, please let Lefty or myself know. Thank you, Coach Rachel
