Program Goals and Objectives for Dance Gymnastics and Cheerleading Classes

When teaching and coaching the children in our programs, our instructors keep the following goals and objectives in mind.

1. The children should be safe at all times. Instructors know when the children are ready for the skills being taught, what skills are appropriate for the age and ability of the child and how to provide progressive drills to develop these skills.

2. The children need to have fun and enjoy their class. Instructors incorporate games, contests, challenges and rewards into the class and are expected to be enthusiastic in their teaching/coaching.

3. The children need to learn while they are playing or doing their dance, gymnastics, or cheerleading. Instructors encourage the development of a dance, gymnastics and cheerleading vocabulary that defines various skills, techniques, and progressions. Through participation and practice, the children will acquire physical skills central to dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading performance.

4. To produce highly skilled athletes through the competitive gymnastics and cheerleading team programs and the continued development of our dancers through the Junior and Senior Dance Company. Our dance, cheerleading, and gymnastics programs are strong enough to develop highly skilled dancers, cheerleaders, and gymnasts who are successfully competitive with other programs of high quality.
