Program Goals and Objectives for Dance Gymnastics and Cheerleading Classes

When teaching and coaching the children in our programs, our instructors keep the following goals and objectives in mind.

1. The children should be safe at all times. Instructors know when the children are ready for the skills being taught, what skills are appropriate for the age and ability of the child and how to provide progressive drills to develop these skills.

2. The children need to have fun and enjoy their class. Instructors incorporate games, contests, challenges and rewards into the class and are expected to be enthusiastic in their teaching and coaching.

3. The children need to learn while they are playing and doing their dance, gymnastics, or cheerleading. Instructors encourage the development of a dance, gymnastics and cheerleading vocabulary that defines various skills, techniques, and progressions. Through participation and practice, the children will acquire physical skills central to dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading performance.

4. To provide an opportunity for children interested in competitive cheerleading and gymnastics  to become highly skilled athletes who are self motivated and self-confident.
